Make Zabbix Agent do SNMP Checks

So I have an extensive Zabbix setup that requires agents on the monitored servers. Due to security concerns, I can only monitor actively via the Zabbix Agent 10050 port on the server being monitored.

Recently, I have been asked to add some SNMP checks for Tomcat to our installation, however from what I can see, the SNMP checks are done via the Zabbix Server, not the agent.

Is there a way to make the Agent do the SNMP checks? If so, how can I test with zabbix_get?

not without using userparameters, but maybe you can deploy a zabbix proxy instead/in addition

OK, that was my thought. The Zabbix Agent doesn't have a built-in version of "snmpget" per-se, I would need to do custom user parameters with the SNMP utilities installed on each host, correct?

And to clarify, all the servers I maintain are not local, they are spidered out through VPN connections and such, and are not always necessarily managed by my organization.

          Hi Richlv,

You can try to run SNMP locally, save result to file and then send result to Zabbix server with zabbix_sender
