I am looking at setting some sort of regular maintenance on my mysql database, i have tried the mysql optimize command it has it problems (could be my setup). anyway came and did some checking through the forums found

problem is they are rather old. I have previously been a fan of postgress of MySQL and the only reason i have MySQL right now is for legacy reasons
something i read was about changing the file structure for myqsl . ie 1 file per table not 1 file for all the tables
so i thought before I dumble my way through mysql i would come and ask what others are doing.
I was looking for some daily/week optimization ... maybe re indexing or ? and a monthly optimize (the my sql my optimize) although I am not sure what I am getting for that
plus it doesn't seem like (the fourm) have had this discussion in a while
