Can't get my head around 1.1 templates...

    Hi,

I've been playing with 1.1beta for a while... I've read all the threads about the new template structure, but I still can't get my head around it...

I understand that rather than mixing items from different templates for each host, the idea is to chain templates so that you end up with one template that has everything, then create a host from that template and disable items you don't need. But if I try to do that I end up with ridiculously long chains, something like:

    Code:
    Server.Unix/Application.MySQL/Application.Progresql/Application.Apache/Application.Tomcat/Service.NFS/Service.AFP/.../.../My.Host
Is this really the only way to do it?

    TIA, Itai

Now that 1.1 is officially out, and the final 1.1 manual says very little (if anything) about the use of templates, is there anyone with a good understanding of the use of templates in a hetrogenous host environment provide some tips?

    Thanks

I'm also looking for some documentation on the Zabbix templates in 1.1

Making very long chains is not a viable option. Is it possible to make template groups ?
