    1.0 to 1.1 Upgrade

I'm planning to upgrading from 1.0 to 1.1 now that it has been released as stable. I'm debating if I should start fresh or patch my way up. Can anyone offer their insight on this?

To save time, what I will most likely do is make a copy of the 1.0 database WITHOUT the history. IE just the configuration stuff. It is documented in the forum somewhere, I had to do it once when our database grew to large for our server to handle. Then I will patch the copy to 1.1 and give it a go.

Has anyone written a script to do the database patching for 1.0 to 1.1? If not, I'll spend a few hours writing one and post it here if I do decide to patch.

I was thinking that the upgrade script will be released with Zabbix 1.1. But As you told, there's nothing. I'm interested in this script to upgrade my Zabbix 1.0 without loosing the configuration..

Be sure I will use it if you create one... :-)

The db patches are in the upgrade directory. If you don't want to run one by one, copy them all in one file and you're good to go.

        upgrade database patches

        % ls upgrade/dbpatches/

        1.0alpha10_to_1.0alpha11 1.0beta3_to_1.0beta4 1.1alpha4_to_1.1alpha5
        1.0alpha11_to_1.0alpha12 1.0beta4_to_1.0beta5 1.1alpha8_to_1.1alpha9
        1.0alpha12_to_1.0beta1 1.0beta5_to_1.0beta6 1.1alpha9_to_1.1alpha10
        1.0alpha3_to_1.0alpha4 1.0beta6_to_1.0beta7 1.1beta11_to_1.1beta12
        1.0alpha4_to_1.0alpha5 1.0beta7_to_1.0beta8 1.1beta12_to_1.1
        1.0alpha6_to_1.0alpha7 1.0beta8_to_1.0beta9 1.1beta1_to_1.1beta2
        1.0alpha7_to_1.0alpha8 1.0beta9_to_1.0beta10 1.1beta2_to_1.1beta3
        1.0alpha8_to_1.0alpha9 1.0_to_1.1alpha1 1.1beta4_to_1.1beta5
        1.0alpha9_to_1.0alpha10 1.1alpha10_to_1.1alpha11 1.1beta5_to_1.1beta6
        1.0beta10_to_1.0beta11 1.1alpha11_to_1.1alpha12 1.1beta6_to_1.1beta7
        1.0beta12_to_1.0beta13 1.1alpha12_to_1.1beta1 1.1beta7_to_1.1beta8
        1.0beta13_to_1.0beta14 1.1alpha2_to_1.1alpha3 1.1beta8_to_1.1beta9
        1.0beta2_to_1.0beta3 1.1alpha3_to_1.1alpha4 1.1beta9_to_1.1beta10

So if we want to go from 1.0 stable to 1.1 stable, which patches do we run? Go through all the alphas and then all the betas? There are gaps in the chain, and and where's the final 1.1 stable?

yes, and in the right order.

There are gaps in the chain
that means there were no db changes

and and where's the final 1.1 stable?
Isn't 1.1beta12_to_1.1 final enough? (at the end of your 5th line)
