How keep item history and trends

I changed the template in a host so as to arrange items disk.
Using unlink and clear the old items were lost, losing along the historic discs.

Seeking to improve the administration, it is possible with some trick, migrate or keep history or trends?

    Thank you.

If you're simply moving hosts between templates and don't want to lose items/data, just use the "unlink" option, do not use "unlink and clear". "Unlink" will simply dis-associate the various host items from the template and make them a part of the host directly. This will preserve item history and trends.

But how to re-associate them back to a template?
There will always be some point in time where templates have to be redefined.

      Example:
One used to link hosts to Template A but wants them later to be linked to a more suitable Template B (either with the same items of Template A or with a link to Template A).

How can that be achieved without loosing the history/trends based on items of Template A?

When you link a host to a template, any items on the host that have the EXACT same name as an item in the template then become associated with the template. All history is preserved.

In your case, disassociate the host with Template A as I mentioned. If the item names are the same in Template B, the host items will become associated with Template B when you attach that template to the host.

          heaje, thank you very much!

I work with Zabbix for years (mostly private) and was absolutely sure that it wouldn't work this way. I'm sure I tried this a long time ago and it failed...
However your hint made my day :-)
