    Evan,

    No, not being blocked.

I have attached a jpeg of the window.

    Thanks.

Hmmm... I'm think of two things, maybe a firewall issue? Check to make sure port will allow connections(does your dashboard show zabbix server as running?), also check the output of this netstat -tul | grep zabbix_server to determine if daemon is listening on a different port. Please post the output.

        Evan,

Dashboard shows zabbix is running, localhost:10050.

From looking at this in your log file
          56180:20130310:132211.193 End of DCget_host_macro():FAIL
something is a miss, and looking at this:https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-4976
Can you check to see if you have an agent interface for the host you are attempting to ping, if it's an snmp host, you also need a agent interface to ping it.

            #20
            Evan,

It is an SNMP device, and I did not have an agent interface defined for it.

I added an agent interface and it did not help.

I have seen the bug/issue report that you mentioned. My reading of that is that the code has been changed to pick up the host.conn address from any of the defined interfaces. I have 2.0.4 installed, so that changed code should be on my system.

But, since I am not getting the same verbiage in the log file, it seems like the issue is arising before the host.conn issue would arise?

            Thanks.

Did you have a previous version of zabbix installed? Perhaps you need to re-fresh your web files, I'm just grasping for straws here...

                Evan,

No, this is a fresh install.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I may just have to open a case with Zabbix to see if this is a bug.

                Thanks.

Did you install zabbix from rpm/deb or build from tar with ./configure? Which php/apache version are you using?

                    Evan,

                    It was an RPM install.

                    PHP version is 5.3.3.

                    Apache version is 2.2.15.

                    Thanks.

I'm not saying your installer is faulty, but perhaps its time to try to build from scratch to see if that will work. That's how I set up my zabbix server. It will be good experience right?
