How to install Zabbix agent in Linux

I would like to install the Zabbix Agent 2.0.4 onto my CentOs Machine as a service. The only guides I found had mentioned a configure script that was included in the download. It doesn't appear to be in the one on the website.

This is the file I downloaded.
    http://www.zabbix.com/downloads/2.0....3.amd64.tar.gz

I need help using this download to install Zabbix agent as a service.

I personally like to compile the agent. I use CentOS 5U8 64bit currently.

The command I run is simple:
      ./configure --enable-agent

The server one has more options. I can only recommend to read the requirements list to make sure you got all the packages needed installed.

      Regards,

      Luke

I just noticed rpms provided officially on the Zabbix download page. That would probably be a decent source now that they are officially provided.

Do the precompiled agents on the download page not allow installation as a service?

            just use epel:

            wget http://download.fedoraproject.org/pu...6-8.noarch.rpm
            rpm -ivh epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

            yum install zabbix20-agent

if used, remember to change your firewall to allow the ports through - as defined in /etc/zabbix/zabbix_agentd.conf

I'm not quite sure what you're meaning here. All of the binaries can be run as a service daemon.
