Agent active check of ldap availibity

Hi all,

I'm searching for a possibility to do an active agentd check against the central ldap server.

The goal is to check whether the server is able to login with given credentials and ldap data.

This kind of check is available in nagios and called check_ldap.

1. Is there a check build in in zabbix which I can use for that?

2. Is it possible to run "External Checks" also actively from Zabbix agents and not only from the central Zabbix server? If yes, how can I add them?

I would suggest to use ldapwhoami or ldapsearch in connection with User parameters.
The upcoming feature ZBXNEXT-1550 would provide a more native way (performance, efficiency) but requires skills in programming.
