    Cannot Monitor Host trough proxy

    Hi Community

I've got the problem that I can't monitor Zabbix agents through a proxy.
    I got the following setup:
Zabbix Server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx --> Firewall--> Internet --> Firewall -- Zabbix Proxy (Active) yy.yyy.yy.yy. I use a SSH Tunnel for the port 10051 Proxy to Server.

The proxy is getting Data from the server but it won't send any back...

The agent has the proxy as it's server in agentd.conf Also I could not find any documentation which ip address i shall put into the frontend when I configure the host. I can't reach it directly from the server but it won't relay it through the proxy. (Tried with passive mode too sending port 10050 from server to proxy). In both cases proxy ok, host no.

I'd be happy if I could get some advice on this from the experts!

    Thanks for your help!

Is your agent configured to allow connections from the proxy and not just the server in Server=? If you're doing active checks, is the agent configured to look for active checks on the proxy in ServerActive=?

      thanks and new

      Hi haeje

Sorry i forgot to post,i found out the problem. It was the agent on the proxy itself and it would'nt work with 127.0.0.1. It did with the actual ip of the proxy....
      Thanks anyway.

Maybe you have a hint on another issue:
Ping a host from the server through the proxy.... Is it possible to tell the server it should use fping on the proxy to ping a host that is monored through it? The server has no route to the client of course.

I don't believe that is possible.

            Hi,
if I understand the table in the docs about proxies, simple checks are supported by proxy.
So I suppose that if you define a simple check item icmpping on a host monitored through a proxy, the ping will originate from the proxy to the target host.
