How to combine 2 separated Zabbix servers into 1 ???

    Hi there,

We currently have 2 separated Zabbix servers which are monitoring kinds of different hosts with 2 MySQL databases. The business requires us to combine these Zabbix servers into an unified server. We've been searching everywhere for solutions but it hasn't come yet.

Would you please help us with our problem.

    Thank you and regards,

    Rockidit

One option is to manually change all the various ids in one of the databases (itemid, hostid, userid, etc.) to values that are not in the other database. You'd have to find all the id fields yourself though. Once the changes are done, insert all the data from the database you changed into the other database.

I HIGHLY suggest backups of the database before attempting something like this. This kind of thing lends itself to easy mistakes.

or maybe you can use the zabbix API to export and inport hosts, items etc. from one database to the other.

Using the api would probably be safest. As long as a mapping from old to new ids was kept, after the process the old database history itemid fields could be changed to the new values and copied over.

When exporting/importing the configuration make sure you don't have any duplicate objects. For instance, hosts with the same host names. In that case, the imported configuration will override the existing one.

Good point. The duplicates to avoid that come to mind right now are:

              host/template names
              host/template visible names
duplicate item keys on templates and hosts
              duplicate host group names

              user names
              user group names
