    Automatic database backup

I would like to setup a way for Zabbix to create a nightly backup of the database. Also after a backup, to clear out the history such that everything backed up (yesterday's monitoring activity) is no longer in the database.

How can I set this up? I am using the Zabbix template server with Mysql. I noticed that letting Zabbix run for a month has added 30GB disk space usage and I would like to reduce this (ibdata1).

You would need create your own script and set it up with cron to run a daily backup using mysqldump and then delete the data you want removed.

If you don't want the backup and just want to delete data older than 1 day old, you can also change all your items so that they only keep history for 1 day.
