    Filesystems monitoring showing 0 items

    Hi guys,
I've got a bit of an issue with my installation of Zabbix. Basically I've got mounted filesystem discovery enabled, but cannot see any filesystems data coming from the agents. In addition, when I go to items or triggers I can't see the ones that should come from mounted filesystems discovery.

In contrast, the Zabbix server (localhost) is reporting those values no problem.

Could you push me in the right direction where to look for the issue? It's a fresh installation of Zabbix 2.0.5 (I reinstalled it in hope to find the issue).

I've been struggling with this for days now

    Thanks,
    Wichura

Are you absolutely sure that your agents are version 2.0 or greater? File system discovery does not work prior to 2.0. To me this sounds like your server is 2.0.5, but the agents on the remote hosts are not.

      Hi heaje,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. Here is the output from one of the machines which doesn't report filesystems data:

      [root@xxx ~]# zabbix_agent --version
      Zabbix agent v2.0.5 (revision 33558) (12 February 2013)
      Compilation time: Apr 3 2013 15:40:20

Is there anything else I can check?

      Marcin

Just curious. What OS is the monitored server? You installed the correct agent for it? You have the correct template assigned to it?

When you look at the host where it shows the list of items, triggers, etc, do you see where it has discovery rules also assigned to it? And are those discovery rules enabled?

          Hi tchjts1,
The OS is CentOS release 6.3. I've installed the agent by compiling the sources from http://www.zabbix.com/download.php page. Template assigned is OS Linux.

Ys, discovery rules are enabled. When I click through I can see the item prototypes and trigger prototypes, all enabled too.

When I go to latest data for this server, Filesystems category doesn't even show up. It does for Zabbix server which is sending the relevant information.

What is the output if from your Zabbix server you run this:

            zabbix_get -s <agent_client_fqdn/ip> -k "vfs.fs.discovery"

If that returns no output either, then something funky is going on with your agent. That should output the results of the key. One thing to look at is if your agents have the appropriate "Server" variable set in zabbix_agentd.conf. Also, check "ServerActive" to ensure it's correct if you're using Active items.

What type of filesystem do you have? I think zfs is possible on Linux. if that's the case, then you need to add zfs to the regexpr under admin->general -> Regular expressions.

Here is what is defined as a default:
              ^(btrfs|ext2|ext3|ext4|jfs|reiser|xfs|ffs|ufs|jfs| jfs2|vxfs|hfs|ntfs|fat32)$ [Result is TRUE]

                Hello,
Have you checked logfiles on the server and agent sides (with DebugLevel=4 if necessary) ?

                  Did you solve this issue?

                  I have the same issue.

I am having similar issues to OP.

When I run the command you recommend I receive not output (For the record initially I was getting a permission denied until I specified the port in the command line argument). Any further troubleshooting help would be greatly appreciated.

I am now able to see the JSON output by running the following command:

                      zabbix_agentd -t vfs.fs.discovery

Problem is, I am still not seeing any filesystems after configuring according to section 3.1 in this documentation: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...evel_discovery
