Email alerts stopped working - No actions found.

I am getting a bit stuck now on this problem.

Background - we have a zabbix server checking the systems which was running version 2.0.2 and then a zabbix laptop connecting via vpn to monitor the zabbix server and ups and a couple of other critical systems. I have an interface on a server which I bring down at 7.30 am and normally receive notifications from both systems so i know all is well with zabbix. Both systems have been running problem free for several months.

Last Friday I had a problem with a dns server not responding so I decided to install the dnschk script which involved copying the scripts to teh server and then editing the zabbix_agentd.conf file, I may then have created an action but can't remember.

The next day I no longer got my daily notification from the server (i did from the laptop) so I investigated and I see the events being triggered but in the message actions section I see No actions found.

I compared all the config files on the working laptop and server but see no reason why it doesn't work I deleted actions and recreated them I deleted media and media types, checked users and still found nothing. I saw on a forum it might be a permission problem but that didn't help.

so thinking it may be a bug i upgraded to 2.0.5 and that made no difference so i unloaded and reloaded the db again no difference. Comparing all files and zabbix config between the systems I see no reason why it stopped working.

I can send email as root form the server but checking in the mail server logs I see no attempt from zabbix to send the email.

can anyone give me any ideas on how to debug this further

I solved this, it seems to be a mystery that will never be understood.

The alert was set to Trigger name like "ping" and it was only the daily check that wasn't working not all ping checks so zabbix was correctly reporting No action found as ping was not in the name, I added pingtest at the end of the trigger name and hey presto it worked again. Just to make sure I was still sane I checked through previous emails and they had been alerting despite me not changing the action and the name not having ping in it - very strange!

I am also experiencing the same issue. I ran into 'No actions found' in many of events. The alert was set to Trigger name like = _PDA_ and I changed it to some other string and rollback to _PDA_ again then action works fine.

Is there any update? Can anyone look into this issue?
