    sharing dashboards

    Hi,

We have multiple users and a lot of hosts.

I want to be able to design personal dashboards tailored to our users needs and then send these dashboards out to the users somehow.

I don't see how to do this. Is it possible or does each users personal dashboard need to be set up by hand?

    Please advise, thanks!

The best way to do it IMO, is to create enough type of groups to accommodate your needs.

For instance, I group my servers this way:
    Windows Servers - All
    Windows Servers - Dev
    Windows Servers - Prod

(The same as above for Linux)

(The Same as above for Solaris)

Then I create host groups for the Applications that are relevant, such as:
    App - Oracle
    App - Citrix
    App - Kronos
    App - Exchange
    App - MSSQL

Then I create User Groups with appropriate read access to the necessary host groups above. Assign your users to the appropriate groups and you are done.

It is not terribly difficult, and the majority of the work lies in planning out the groupings as needed. be aware that as you create new groups, you will need to update the permissions for the user groups to be able to see them. By default, newly created host groups go into the "deny" category, I believe.

So with the categories as I have above, I can give someone access to all or some Windows/Linux/Solaris servers, or specifically by application.

I came across this old thread looking for an answer and found another way to answer the question for Zabbix 3.4...

Assuming your Host groups, Hosts, User groups and Users are set and to your liking.

As a Zabbix Super Admin, you can create Dashboards and Assign the Owner of that Dashboard to whoever you want.

Once done, you can go to said Dashboard, select Actions (Top right, three line button) ---> Sharing

Selecting "Private" instead of "Public" in the pop up will allow only the owner of the dashboard to view it.

      Done.

Dashboard sharing not working on fresh installation Zabbix 6.4 + nginx + rocky 9

I try all combinantions and what's strange it only works when users have role "SUPER ADMIN"

Yes other users see shared dashboards but all are empty. Nothing special in logs.

Just sharing a dashboard does not give any permissions to see the data on those dashboards. This has to be solved by giving appropriate access rights to people through common access model (usergroup/hostgroup matrix).
As Superadmins can see everything, there is no need to share anything with them...

OK, maybe I wasn't clear. I did as it is in the manual: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...ps/map#sharing
but it doesn't work, other users see the dashboard but without any items.

That perfectly corresponds to what I said.. Sharing a map does not give anyone access to underlaying data... it needs to be given via regular access methods...

                  • Public maps are visible to all users, although to see it the user must have read access to at least one map element. Public maps can be edited in case a user/ user group has read-write permissions for this map and at least read permissions to all elements of the corresponding map including triggers in the links.
                  • Private maps are visible only to their owner and the users/user groups the map is shared with by the owner. Regular (non-Super admin) users can only share with the groups and users they are members of. Admin level users can see private maps regardless of being the owner or belonging to the shared user list. Private maps can be edited by the owner of the map and in case a user/ user group has read-write permissions for this map and at least read permissions to all elements of the corresponding map including triggers in the links.
