Move a client to a proxy from Zabbix server without losing its history

I want to add some proxies to my current Zabbix setup. My question is, if I add a proxy then switch a client from reporting to the main Zabbix server via its agentd.conf, and have it go to the proxy, would it retain its hostid and its history in the Zabbix database? Seems like I would just go to that host within the Zabbix gui and change its proxy value to the proxy.

Basically I want to add proxies, then MOVE clients to the proxies without losing the clients' history.

You'll be fine having hosts report either to the Main Zabbix server or various proxies, or moving them from one to the other. No history will be lost. Maybe just a short blip while they transition.
