    monitoring a cisco router and switches

    Hi ,

    i have installed zabbix 2.0.6 , now i want to monitor cisco networking devices in that kindly help me what is the procedure to monitor the routers and switches .

    which templete is suitable to networking devices and wheather snmp is required to for this ....

    I Tried to configure one cisco switch .
    i have selected snmp interface after that it will shows availability as snmp red in color "it shows connection timed out.

    Did you read manual?
    Quite simple, you need:
    1) create host;
    2) import template and apply to host OR create items&triggers manualy;
    which templete is suitable to networking devices and wheather snmp is required to for this ....
    Please check this link. Perhaps you can find template there.
    Or you can use template generator from here.

    Please, check that port from zabbix server to server with SNMP agent is open (execute on zabbix server "telnet IP_server_with_SNMP 161").

      in our switches and router snmp is configured and port 161 is opened , but when ever i tried to telnet to our router "telnet router ip 161. it show connecting refused.

      In our zabbix server it shows connection while timeout ip :161

      pls help me to resolve the issue.....

        Based on the results of the command, the port is closed. No one except you knows the topology of your network, so сheck the firewall rules and that the snmp agent is running on the network equipment.
