I am looking at using oracle as the backend of Zabbix latest version on linux (suse 10.1) using Oracle 10g release 2, but no luck with the Zabbix install. Any tips on installing Zabbix using oracle backend?

We used Oracle 9.2.0.4 under RedHat AS3 as a development platform. I remember that we also ran succesfully ZABBIX with Oracle 10.x on RedHat AS3. No problems.

What specific information you're looking for?

        ..
        ..
        ..
        checking for Oracle support... no
configure: error: Invalid Oracle directory - unable to find sqlora.h

sqlora.h is a header from libsqlora. You'll need to have libsqlora built and installed before attempting the zabbix build.

thank you for the reply. Can you please give more information on getting libsqlora build and installed. I configured both 10g DB, Client and even instant client, but no libsqlora.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. In summary i need to get the following working.
Zabbix using Oracle 10g DB running on Suse 10.1
I tried a few different options, but no luck and I cannot find any information on libsqlora and how to create it or where to find it. I have installed the full Oracle 10g release 2 client, and even tried using the instant client, but no luck yet.
              Thank you in advance
              Anton

I have updated section 4 of http://www.zabbix.com/manual/v1.1/install_server.php to include some details about Oracle support. Let me know if something is still unclear.

                    hello
I installed libsqlora8 (2.3.3) from homepage linked in manual (http://www.poitschke.de/libsqlora8/)
no error during its compiling (RHEL3 AS update7)

after that I always get the same error configuring zabbix
                    cmd line

                    $ ./configure --enable-server --with-oracle=/usr/local/lib --with-net-snmp

                    answers

configure: error: Invalid Oracle directory - unable to find sqlora.h under /usr/local/lib

                    I've found sqlora.h in here

                    # find / | grep sqlora.h
                    /usr/local/include/sqlora.h
                    /oracle/setup/libsqlora8-2.3.3/sqlora.h

if I try with any other location

                    --with-oracle=/usr/local/include
                    --with-oracle=/usr/local/lib/libsqlora8/
                    --with-oracle=/usr/local/lib/libsqlora8/include/

always get the same error ("... under each_new_path")
                    ($ORACLE_HOME setting is right)
                    any suggestion?

these are the file after libsqlora building
(sorry for too many lines, I hope someone could find these useful)

                    thank you very much
                    best regards
