    Install agent on proxy server?

I was wondering if I should install the Zabbix-agent on a zabbix-proxy server and if so, should the agent be configured to use the proxy itself for the server, or the real server IP.

Also, should serveractive point to the proxy or the real server IP?

Should the agents within the remote network be configured to use the proxy in their server or serveractive fields?

    1. Totally up to you, but it doesn't make much sense to have the agent report to the server its on because if that proxy goes down, what would detect if the agent wasn't responding?

    2. If you use active checks "serveractive" should point to whatever host is monitoring it. If the server monitors it, point it to the server. If the proxy monitors it, point it to the proxy. If you don't use active items, this parameter is pointless.

    3. Agents should be configured to point to whichever server monitors them. See #2.
