Many times monitoring an application consists in a painful process to gather all the technical components that need to be checked in order to assess wether the application is available or not (or wether it is perfoming well or not)
The ideal way to ease that process would be to get to take into account monitoring at an earlier stage, precisely when designing the application, previously to the development.
In my company, we are aiming at providing a kind of "best practices guideline" from our production department, intended to the developpers.
But creating this guideline from scratch is not that easy! What shall we recommand? That the application writes logs for each of its functionality periodically? something else?
Is it something you already had the opportunity to work on?
Any help would be trully appreciated.
I am also available if you need more details on what I am aiming at.
Regards,
Simon
