    Performance Counter Network Interface Multiplier

    Hi Guys,

Been using zabbix for quite a while now but one thing buggs me the Item setting and Multiplier for network Bandwith monitoring In and Out on network interface. I've been looking through the forum and there is no straight answer. Some say 8 some 10 some 1024 ???????

Hi, if you are using the net.if.in[if,<mode>] item you get bytes in return by default.
If you want bites instead you need to multiply with 8. (Network people mostly like to speak in bites).

      ?

I'm using performance counter on Windows Server 2003 network interface.

      Zabbix 2.0.6 on Centos

I tried to use net.if.in[if,<mode>] but it gives me 3.9 Gbytes per second ???? if I change it to Delta Speed per second it drops to 3.9 kb per second which is hard to believe on a fileserver

the reason I'm asking is to be sure I'm getting real data. I don't have any problems with Item or trigger, just want to be sure I'm getting the right data.

You will then need to check out the win performance counter documentation for the performance counter to be sure where you get it in bytes.

And you could check you perf monitor under windows and zabbix against each other to be sure on your result.

        (I am using net.if.in[<ip adr>,bytes] without problems. in 2.0.6)
