    ESXi sends only "sysUpTimeInstance" traps

    Hi All,

I have configured snmp on my ESXi 5 host. The ESXi is also sending traps to the Zabbix monitoring system.

But the problem is , i see only "sysupTimeInstance" traps and no other traps. I want the ESXi should send traps related to memory, cpu, disk usage etc.

When will the ESXi send these traps ? Is it possible to configure these ?

Kindly help me on this topic.

    Regards,
    Justin.

Do you have a pay-license? As far as I know the free license doesn't provide SNMP.

      Hello Trek,

      Thanks for the reply.

      Im new to VMware.

We have a vCenter server which manages all the ESXi's. Can you just let me know how to check free or liscence version of ESXi ?

      Thanks in Advance,
      Justin

Well, Select a Host, go to the configuration Tab, select Licensed functions. If you have only a few listed there then I would say you have a free license. Meaning no SNMP support.

          Hello Trek,

I just checked and found that all the ESXi's are liscenced. But still i receive only sysuptimeinstance traps.

Im thinking of monitoring the ESXi's using OID's , but when i try to load the MIB's i m unable to do that.

          Kindly help.

          Thanks in Advance.

          Justin.
