    ifInOctets VLAN Cisco

    Hi,

It seems the ifInOctets and ifOutOctets snmp-value of a Cisco VLAN is different from a physical interface like FastEthernet0/1. Does anyone have experience with measuring the bandwith usage of Cisco VLAN's? I'm talking about the Cisco catalyst layer 3 switch 3560 in this case.

    Thanks,

      Hi,

I used snmpwalk and I know the ifDescr, its VLAN1 then I can get the value of the VLAN1 with ifInOctets.1
The octet value is different then the value of ifInOctets.10001 which is a physical interface. The values of the physical interfaces are correct (multiply 8 and unit bps and float and delta speed per second). But when I do the same settings within an item for the VLAN items the values are far from correct. I don't know why.
