SMS Alert via Huawei Modem

Hi,

i installed Zabbix from a VM Ware Appliance ovf on an ESXi 5.1 Host as virtual
pc. The Version ist openSuse 12.2. Mantis Kernel 3.4.33.2.24 / Zabbix 2.0.6.

I want to get alerts via SMS.
The UMTS Huawei Modem is seen in the Linux Maschine as /dev/ttyUSB0
I tryed with gammu and it works.

In Zabbix I aded the Media SMS -> GSM Modem -> /dev/ttyUSB0
but it doesn´t worked. Where can I see the log of it, to see wheres the mistake ??

Otherwise I read to do this with an script, and give an entry in the zabbix_server.conf But I didn´t find this conf File....

Has anyone of you run this sms alert with gammu and script and can help me ? Iam new with zabbix and linux !

The hardest points are the permissions for the zabbix server.
Give Zabbix permissions for the dialout group Otherwise there
are problems to get the usb surf stick device.

So, you plug modem into ESX host ? And usb passthrough is working without problem ? I could not get it working...
By the way, Zabbix Appliance is "VM version 4", thus it is not possible to connect any USB devices through vsphere interface...

yes I put it into the ESX host. Then go to the maschine - edit settings - button add - can you see no usb device ?
The USB surf stick often identify by device, then you must edit the surf stick via putty or such tool to set as modem. I didn´t think that is vm version 4 the matter, I think I gave also USB Sticks to vm´s in version 4.
