    Trigger Alert for SNMP

I am kind of confused on the whole email alerts. I am trying to create an Email Alert if the value of one of my Items in my Host List is below 60.

The value is called cbHeading and has an SNMP OID of 1.3.6.1.4.1.37436.2.8.4.0

And i want to get an Email Alert when the value is below 60. How can i do so?

Where are you stuck? Creating the trigger, or creating the action?

First create a new item. select snmp under "type"

provide the oid and give the item a name.

then create a trigger for it.

        check:

the alert settings are configured for normal use.

It is a fairly intuitive interface for creating triggers.
Did you look at the links he provided above?
Have you experimented with clicking on "Create trigger" and seeing what happens when you then click on "Add" next to the "Expression" block?

It would end up looking something like this if it is done at the template level:

            Code:
            {Template whatever:cbHeading.last(0)}<60

Yep i finally figured it out. Just my issue now is that its not emailing. I have an exchange server and i put in my SMTP into media Type for Email but its not sending. How can i check if its working or configure it to work with sending from exchange?

under "Administration > Media Types " is the e-mail tab.
                check your settings there.

it is possible that you are sending on behalf of a user. that is not possible with exchange (you don't have the rights for that).
maybe it sounds weird but use a none existing from address (smtp e-mail) but use your own domain. try something like [email protected]

Well my Exchange Server is hosted by godaddy. In the GoDaddy docs it says

Outgoing Mail Server — Type one of the following, based on your Hosted Exchange Email version:
                  Exchange 2007 — smtp.ex1.secureserver.net
                  Exchange 2010 — smtp.ex2.secureserver.net, smtp.ex3.secureserver.net, or smtp.ex4.secureserver.net

So i put smtp.ex1.secureserver.net for SMTP

I put for SMTP Helo my domain "website.com

and for email i put a email that doesnt exist [email protected]"

But im still not getting any emails. Is there a way to check or what can i do to solve this?

All i see is that it says in Progress for sending and then after a few minutes it just says "not sent"

                    In events tab it says

"cannot connect to SMTP server [smtp.ex1.secureserver.net]: cannot connect to [[smtp.ex1.secureserver.net]:25]: [4] Interrupted s"

                    Is exchange not supported?

I use Exchange as well, but it is within my company. Try changing SMTP helo to a fully qualified server name instead of just the domain.

try using php smtp mail. (your Linux server can e-mail too)
The problem you can walk into is that your spamfilters filters this kind of e-mail out.
