How to check DNS service ?

    Hi,
I am evaluating the zabbix features.
I don't see a simple way to check the dns service.
    Is any template for this?

    Thanks!

      Strange check of DNS

I have to setup e script on each monitored dns server?
      This is strange!?

It should be a simple way to do this!?

DNS service checking on version 2.4

          Following the instructions at https://www.zabbix.com/wiki/howto/mo...n_your_network

When I get to configuring items the instructions say...

The first item in your UserParameter= statement is the “Key” used to query your agent. Type DNSbr1 (my example from above) as your key. Set the type to Numeric (Integer), and set your preferences for the other parameters.
Under Type of information there is no Numeric (Integer) - so I end up with this error message.

Received value [#!/usr/local/bin/php 1] is not suitable for value type [Numeric (unsigned)] and data type [Decimal]
Not sure why I get #!/usr/local/bin/php 1 instead of 1
Not sure how to fix this either.

Anyone out there using this and got it to work? Templates?
