Zabbix Inventory

Hello ,

I would like to know if there's any other way to show the ip of the hosts in the inventory page except that of creating an UserParameter to get the ip, seeing as Zabbix already has the ip stored in the database.
I would greatly appreciate it , if you could help me out, seeing as I'm not a php guru.
Is there an item already set out to get the IP of hosts?
P.S. I am on Zabbix 2.0.3

I don't realy understand at what are you pointing with that post.
Anyways i need a function to return the ip based on the hostid from the database and display it in the inventory tab.

I missed that it has to be in inventory.
In this case ZBXNEXT-1437 might be what you're looking for.

To answer your question:
No, there is no such item.

A very hackish workaround could be the use of net.dns.record[,{HOST.HOST1},A]
But this works only with proper host name set and DNS in place and returns for instance a complete A record instead an IP only

I suggest to:

• Vote for ZBXNEXT-1437 (on pre-condition I didn't get it wrong again )
• use a custom item of your choice (UserParameter, Trapper, External Check) for now
• watch out for ZBXNEXT-1550 if you have concerns about efficiency
