    perf_counter disk latency Windows

The documentation regarding Windows performance counters within the Zabbix 2.0 manual leaves much to be desired. I would like to know how to monitor physical disk latency and return the value in milliseconds (ms).

Does anyone know how to do this? Thank you very much.

    I figured it out.

Here are the relevant parts of the item.
    Code:
    Name: Ave. Disk sec/Read C:\
    Key: perf_counter[\234(0 C:)\208]
    Type of Information: Numeric Float
I looked into this part of the registry.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib\009

I copied all the contents of 009 and then pasted it into a document. That way I could convert the numeric form to the string form, as the numeric form is more reliable if there is a language difference on a server.

This is great, I'm not sure I have any use for it at the moment, but I'm sure I'll find use for it one day. You can also paste the "Help" information for the specific Counters into the Item's "Description" field for a quick reference on what values an Item is collecting.

Also, did you happen to set a "Custom Multiplier" for the Item? An easy way to find Microsoft's recommended Multiplier (Scale) is to add the Counter to PerfMon, and check the "Scale" field. For "Avg. Disk sec/Read" the Scale (Multiplier) seems to be 1000. Having an appropriate Scale (Multiplier) can help when discussing your results with other techs, particularly Microsoft techs.
