Graphing Monitored Hosts

I know that the number of monitored hosts is displayed on the dashboard, but it is accessible through zabbix[] so that it can be used as an item and graphed over time?

I'm thinking something similar to zabbix[items] which shows the number of items within the system.

What about making a "Database monitor" item with:

select count(name) from hosts where status = 0;

status = 0 --> hosts
status = 3 --> templates

Great - that works.

I also added a check to only report on available hosts, so I'm using -

select count(name) from zabbix.hosts where status = 0 and available = 1;
