    Global/group zoom level

    Hi,

While checking the graphs for separated hosts or the same graphs of a host the entire Time period is changing. I think somehow Zabbix is storing a separated Time period for each graph and/or item.

However, this is VERY annoying. When I am checking multiple graphs of same host or same graph of multiple hosts I expect to select the Time period only at beginning/once.

This "feature" is making using frontend VERY inefficient (time consuming), and the most horrid I found when using Zabbix frontend.

There is any way to have the Time period stay fixed between multiple graphs or hosts ? So after selecting once to stay the same no matter what host/graph I pick ?

I agree, I've run across this and found it to be very anoying.

My work around is to make lots and lots of screeens with the graphs I like to see at once.

      Jburkemx,

Screens are just partially a solution.

We can create templated screens which have the main advantage that can be replicated over all monitored equipments automatically. But these have the disavantage cant include LLD graphs.

We can create global screens but then the work to do this for each equipment is huge. The advantage is you can include LLD graphs.

I think beside fixing (making static) the Time period Zabbix needs at least 3 things:
      1. LLD screens to be able to be included into templated screens. This allows easier reviewing the graphs for a host

      2. Ability to pick the hostnames on Monitoring->screens to allow displaying of host screens or even templated screens

      3. An option for "Show all" graphs

      4. To have some sort of "global screens templates", where is possible to define a screen on top of templates, specifying templated screens order. Basically listing all the templated screens and let define the order of display. This allows to have screens at global levels which are auto-generated based on based on templates are assigned to selected host.

Eg: if a hostname is a Linux server with http and MTA then will be displayed a screen including the templated screens for Linux, http, MTA, into the order of importance specified on "global screens templates". Of course, other templated screens wont be displayed (will be displayed just the templated screens for templates assigned to that host).

      5. Further advancement for 4 will be the option to let "adjust" the "global screens templates" for each host, but only by allowing other graphs to be added (not to allow editing/removing templated screens)

I do feel Zabbix has a lot to advance to allow much advanced reusing and been much easier to use on graphs/screens part. The current solution is involving a LOT of work to setup and maintain.

This is not the solution for everything you are looking for, but have you explored using Dynamic items in your screens? This will give you the dropdown of hosts to select from that you mentioned, as well as maintaining the time period that you selected, regardless of what host you choose to look at.

I've been using Zabbix since 2007 and rely heavily on Dynamic screens. Obviously, the graphs you choose to put in the screen needs to be common metrics across your platform. I have one dynamic screen for Windows, Linux and Solaris. Each is a very similar layout so that the users can go from one platform to the other and expect the information to be (relatively) in the same location.
