    upgrading zabbix on Ubuntu server

So I have zabbix 2.0.4 installed and would like to upgrade to 2.0.9 but can find no way to actually make this happen. apt-get and yum either can't find it or say it's the latest version. Downloading the zabbix-server-mysql_2.0.9-1+precise_amd64.deb package and doing a dpkg -i on it seems to do an install, but it's very quick and the server is not actually upgraded. Of course since I'm running Ubuntu 12.0.4 LTS Precise I'm assuming that's the right package to install out of alllll the ones in the downloads since there is no indication what is actually what there...

Has anyone gotten an upgrade of this nature to work, and if so how?

    Ubuntu packages

Ubuntu .deb packages are different than the Zabbix packages.
I think the install path is not the same.
if you have installed zabbix-server-mysql_2.0.9-1+precise_amd64.deb, you should have installed a second zabbix server instance.
Check for zabbix binaries install path (search in /usr/sbin an /usr/local/sbin)

You can search for ubuntu ppa to find a correct zabbix-server backport package.

I'm not sure I understand your reply. The previous installation was from standard repo, but that still only has 2.0.4 and I wanted to upgrade to 2.0.9. I assumed the +precise package was for Ubuntu thereby making it the same install paths as what came previously.
There are binaries for zabbix agent and server in /usr/sbin
      There is nothing in /usr/local/sbin
The web directory is /usr/share/zabbix, and as stated the website says it's version 2.0.4 despite maybe installing 2.0.9
      Configuration files are in /etc/zabbix
I find no other places where a second copy has been installed.

Figured it out, you have to install a second component, the front end, otherwise you've upgraded the back end but not the web interface apparently.
