VMWare monitoring in 2.2.0 form Ubuntu apt install

    Hi all

I have upgraded my installation to 2.2 but it was originally installed from the zabbix apt repository.

I see I need to run
    ./configure --with-libxml2 --with-libcurl

But I have no idea how to do this if I installed from the apt repo.

Can anybody advise how to get it working ?

But why do you think you need to do following?
    ./configure --with-libxml2 --with-libcurl
    It's not possible with apt.
Anyway packages which you installed from zabbix apt repo is compiled with those options.

Are you trying to do VMWare low level discovery?
If so, did your upgrade process give you the 3 VMWare Templates?
And did you set the VMWare Collectors parameter in zabbix_server.conf?
By default, it is zero. It needs to be at least 1.

        ### Option: StartVMwareCollectors
        # Number of pre-forked vmware collector instances.
        #
        # Mandatory: no
        # Range: 0-250
        # Default:
        # StartVMwareCollectors=0
        StartVMwareCollectors=10

Thanks, I found that setting in the manual last night and enabled it. its collecting information now but it seems minimal. I will need to just recheck my templates and make sure they are the correct ones.

Where would I get these templates from?

I just upgraded to 2.2 and want to do the low level discovery. I did manually create an entry for the collectors as suggested.

            Thanks!

I found them after some additional searching here: https://www.zabbix.org/wiki/Zabbix_T...s#Zabbix_2.2.0

Read the notes before you install these. has to be done in a certain order:

                  now i have errors !

When I try to import the templates I get this ...

Cannot find value map "VMware VirtualMachinePowerState" used for item "Power state" on "Template Virt VMware Guest".

                  Any suggestions ?

                    Did you follow this note?

Note: Template Virt VMware should be imported after the other VMware templates, otherwise it will fail with mysterious message.

Yes I actually tried the tree in all different orders but each returns an error and the import fails.

This is just a test environment that I upgraded from 2.0 so I might just spend the time and create a 2.2 installation from scratch.

Yeah, I am not sure why else it would fail. I don't recall seeing other reports of that issue.

If I did them in the incorrect order originally ... not sure what order I first tried ... would I just be able to change the order or would I have to go in and 'fix' something ?

I am guessing that simply deleting all 3 of them, then importing in the correct order would do the trick.
