How to disable trigger notification for selected scheduled period

I have a host that I monitor via the zabbix ICMP ping template. This will send email alert to me when ICMP ping average is high.

The problem I have is that during the night I'm running some backup on his host and as a result the ICMP ping might be high during this night period. However I do not want to be notify that ICMP ping is hing while the backup (period) is active.

I know that you can create a maintenance period but doesn't this get apply to ALL triggers so I won't know if the host is down etc.

How do I create a rule that say no need to notify me about high ping (but do notify for everything else) when the backup period is active?

In your action (configuration -> actions) you can set different conditions.

Specify there:
- a time period
- the trigger name (or template)

So you could either exclude your icmp triggers globally and include it in a separate action rule or combine that with the desired time period.

That reads nice, but in the "maintenance period":
a) the fake host goes "PROBLEM" and pops up in the dashboard or
b) the real host for the time based trigger goes "PROBLEM"

Even if there is no action performed, the dashboard becomes "messy".

I would vote for a more integrated solution where I could define maintenance windows on the template or host level and then include or exclude these on the trigger level.

I have not yet had the time to try it yet. But if I understand you correctly then it sounds messy and as you said there should be a better way of doing this.

I'm surprised not many other have had a need for this feature.
