    vmware.hv.status return code

    Hello,

I'd like to know the meaning of the returns code of this function vmware.hv.status. The template gives a short description but it doesn't really help me (The overall alarm status of the host: gray - unknown, ok, red - it has a problem, yellow - it might have a problem.)

    I could notice that :
    1 : OK
    2 : "Warning" (in vsphere)

But what's the return code of the error ?

    Thanks

Not sure here but there should be something more on that error. If you hover your most to that host, does it give you additional details?

      Hi,

We have the same problem here.

I think that returned value is the cause of the alert.

"grey" isn't equal to "OK". So why are we having this "grey" value ? Have you any idea ?

No alarms are present on our hosts.

Perhaps we must waiting some time so value will be updated automatically...

      Regards,

Did you ever get this resolved?
I am monitoring ESX 5.1 vCenters without problems. I was asked to monitor some standalone ESX 5.0 hosts, too. I went with the built-in "Template Virt VMware" which I initially modified to not discover any guests. This template works fine for my vCenter monitoring.
The ESX 5.0 hosts however all report an Overall Status of "Gray". There does not seem to be any problem with those hosts, though. The Nagios check_vmware_api plugin also thinks so:

        Code:
        # /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_vmware_api.pl -H host.name -f passwordfile -l runtime
        CHECK_VMWARE_API.PL OK - 3/3 VMs up, overall status=green, connection state=connected, maintenance=no, All 182 health checks are Green, no config issues | vmcount=3units;; health_issues=0;; config_issues=0;;
Any idea how to get those hosts monitored in Zabbix 2.2.3?
