Previosly "Triggered" Alerts, Engaging New Action Based on Time Period Condition

    Greetings,

I'm trying to figure out a way, or what the best practice would be in the following scenario. I've tried searching a bit, but my keywords don't seem to be netting anything lucrative. I have two actions configured:

    1. First:

Time period of: 1-5,00:00-09:00;1-5,17:00-24:00;6-7,00:00-24:00 (anything outside of mon-fri 9-5, after hours)
    Email Notification
    Unlimited Steps

    2. Second:

Time period of: 1-5,09:00-17:00 (anything inside of mon-fri 9-5, business hours).
    Email + Group SMS Notification
    Unlimited Steps

The behavior of this is that if an alert is triggered after-hours it starts sending email on the step duration of 15 minutes, and continues into the business hours if unacknowledged, however during business hours it doesn't start sending the Group SMS Notification (which is what I want). Unless someone is actually monitoring the emails, or visiting the dashboard they are not going to see this alert during business hours (because it was triggered after-hours). My goal is that if an alert is triggered after hours and no one responds to it due it's low severity, they should get the SMS notification when their shift starts without having to check the dashboard or their filtered out emails.

What I'm trying to achieve is that if an alert has already been triggered, how do I get a new Action to act on that alert when it's time period comes into scope, if the alert was already triggered and unacknowledged. At the moment it appears an Action only starts acting on alert if the alert changed trigger states during the time period of the action, and not if the alert was triggered before that time period.

Hope this makes sense, and look forward to any advice or input you can provide!

    Thanks,
    Aaron

I'm still trying to find a solution to this problem. In the meantime I've also noticed that if a host is placed in Maintenance, and a trigger is launched/escalated during the maintenance period, then after the period ends the alert stays on the dashboard but no actions are performed that notify an individual via SMS or Email.
