    Zabbix Mail sending issue

    Hi All,

    I am facing an issue while sending the mails

    I am using zabbix_server (Zabbix) 4.0.0alpha5 version


    In the UI it is showing mail sent but i am not receiving email to my mail box. In the Audit logs & Action logs also there is no error.


    There is no permission issue as well as i am using zabbix administrator host group and i am uing default admin to send the mail which doesn't require any permission.


    Please help me in fixing this

    Hi, vnoc!

    Please try to increase log level for process "alerter":
    zabbix_server -R log_level_increase=alerter
    No need to restart anything! Repeat the steps and check zabbix_server.log for any errors. If the debug was successful you can decrease the level with
    zabbix_server -R log_level_decrease=alerter

      Thanks for ur reply i have done the saame and in the logs below is the error i am getting

      cannot send list of active checks to IP and other errors are also observed .Please find the attachment of screenshot

        Sorry, vnoc. You screenshot is not very readable

        Just tested more accurate workflow to debug this issue. At first set DebugLevel=0 in zabbix_server.conf. Then:

        #stop zabbix server
        systemctl stop zabbix-server
        #empty existing log
        > /var/log/zabbix/zabbix_server.log
        #start zabbix server
        systemctl start zabbix-server
        #increase only zabbix alerter from level 0 to 4 by runing this command 4 times:
        zabbix_server -R log_level_increase=alerter

        #when you output log
        cat /var/log/zabbix/zabbix_server.log
        #it should say only
        24632:20180404:121412.953 log level has been increased to 1 (critical)
        24630:20180404:121412.954 log level has been increased to 1 (critical)
        24631:20180404:121412.954 log level has been increased to 1 (critical)
        24632:20180404:121422.838 log level has been increased to 2 (error)
        24630:20180404:121422.839 log level has been increased to 2 (error)
        24631:20180404:121422.839 log level has been increased to 2 (error)
        24632:20180404:121437.146 log level has been increased to 3 (warning)
        24630:20180404:121437.146 log level has been increased to 3 (warning)
        24631:20180404:121437.147 log level has been increased to 3 (warning)
        24632:20180404:121439.828 log level has been increased to 4 (debug)

          I have not tested 4.0 yet, but a simple test to see if the issue is with Z or your email system is to try having Z send the email notifications to a different account like gmail or something like that. If the action log shows that Z send the message, I suspect the issue falls outside of Z.

            If in the Action log you see green - Sent, then I would check for a problem on a mail server or try some other SMPT.
            If there is nothing in the Action log, then check does recipient user have permissions affected Host group.
