ERROR: Cannot connect to the trapper...

    Build: 2.2
    OS: CentOS
-Brand new installation, no previous configuration, downloaded as a package-

    Good Evening,
I am currently experiencing an issue while attempting to run commands (scripts) to all my hosts. The error message I receive is:

ERROR: Cannot connect to the trapper port of zabbix server daemon, but it should be available to run the script.
Incorrect response received from Zabbix server "10.100.1.180".

I have done some research about that particular error message; here's some additional information:

    1. 127.0.0.1 has been changed to 10.100.1.180 on all config files.
    2. Port has been set to 10050 on all config files.
    3. Server name has been changed to zabbix on all config files.
    4. Zabbix server shows the agent running in the Zabbix interface.
    5. I can run the scripts from the server.
    6. No other error messages appear on the Zabbix interface.
    7. I have enabled debug mode on, however, I do not see my script being requested to run.
    8. The daemon is running as expected, and waiting for a connection (netstat).

Thank you for all your help.

    Exactly the same issue

Same build completely. This is my 4th Zabbix server at as many employers. Did you ever fix this issue?

No. The community here in Zabbix is not as helpful as I thought they'd be.
      I reinstall Zabbix on Ubuntu

        up-vote?

I know this is ~8mo old now, but I think it is still current. At least, I'm having the same problem (zabbix 2.2.5, centos 6.5). Did you ever find a fix to this, or file a ticket @ support.zabbix.com ?

To be honest, it has been too long since I had this issue. The only thing I can tell you is to make sure your firewalls on your client servers are off or the appropriate setting are in there to allow all of the traffic needed.

Thanks for the update. Well, no firewalls here -- this is pre-deployment, just running inside a single VM. Therefore, I'm going to open a support ticket when I get a minute.

            Thanks,
            V

About what kind of script you are talking here?

                1D10T user error

Yep, in my case, this is user error. In one of my absent-minded moments before my after-lunch coffee kicked in, I thought 'hey, why not try switching the trapper port to 10050 to match what shows up next to all the hosts on the host config screen'. Whoops.

Incidentally, my problem was that described here: https://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43504

...unfortunately, disabling selinux may not be an acceptable workaround for this customer.

Do you expect that zabbix will add for you proper SELinux policy?
Please read SELinux doc about how to add policies.

right - as per above, switching to 10050 was a 'too much blood in my caffeine stream' error. returning to 10051 fixed the problem that this thread was originally devoted to.

No, zabbix needn't do that. However, many of us are not experienced with sysadmin tools like selinux. Thus, for all the searching I've done, the only workaround I can find documented anywhere is the 'sledge' - i.e., disabling selinux entirely.

It would be nice, if there were some mention of "selinux policies" in the scripts section of the documentation.

Thanks though, for the pointer, I'm sure I'll eventually figure it from here

Better place for 2nd half of discussion

That is, for selinux-zabbix integration woes, please reference:

...wherein, you will happily find a couple of solutions.

                          Cheers,
