Monitoring log file on Windows 2008R2

    Good Day ZabbixForum,
I am currently unable to monitor a log file (D:\logs\mylog.txt) using the zabbix agent on my Windows 2008 R2 box.

My current configuration is as follows:

    Zabbix Version 2.2.1

    Configuration>Hosts>"MyServer">Items>"LogMon">
    Name: My Log Mon
    Type: Zabbix agent (active)
    Key: log[D:\logs\mylog.txt]
    Type of information: Log
    Update interval (in sec): 30
History storage period (in days): 90
    Log time format: pppppyyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss -
    New application:
    Applications: MyLogMon
    Description:
    Enabled: Checked

Any and all help is appreciated!

    Hello Authex,

I'm trying the same thing with the same configuration except that I'm trying to monitor a jboss server log on windows-XP and facing the the problem.

Have you succeeded to resolve this issue please? if yes how?

    Thanks & Regards

    Med

Only two things I can think of, is do you have "ServerActive" configured on the clients, as well as verified the clients and communicate back to the server?

        Hi Med,
I was able to start the logging, Zabbix cannot monitor .txt but .log files; in addition to verifying Server Active (well the log file of Zabbix's client, on the server being monitored) and making sure there are no weird errors.

            key

Key: log[D:\logs\mylog.txt,error] << it will filter and show you lines with word error.

and in config file Allow root =1 and check for others permission for read only
