Unwanted mail at beginning and end of Flexible Interval

    Hi All,

Maybe somebody can help me with this.
I'm trying to check if a specific host is up at 8:45, here's how I set it up.
I'm using the agent.ping key to test if the host is up. I set the update interval at 0 (zero) and created the following Flexible Interval: 1-5,08:30-09:00
To the best of my knowledge this setup will start the check at 08:30 and end at 09:00

Now here's my problem; when I test this on a host of which I'm sure it's up I'll receive an email at 09:05 saying there is a problem, because the host is unreachable for 5 minutes.
Next morning at 08:30 I receive an OK email saying that the host can be reached again.

Does anybody know how to setup this check so that I don't receive emails at the beginning and the end of the flexible periode? I just want an email sent to me if the host is really down.

I'm using Zabbix 2.2.1 installed on Centos 6.5 (64 bit)

    Regards,
    Cor.

Please, take a look at Update interval

When it configured, it changes the behavior of Zabbix about this host

    Code:
    [I]Update interval (in sec)[/I]
Refresh this item every N seconds.
Note: If set to '0', the item will not be polled.
However, if a flexible interval also exists with a non-zero value,
the item will be polled during the flexible interval duration.
So, if your Update interval not 0, your host will be polled even your flexible interval is over.
Try to setup Update interval to 0 and Flexible interval to 10 sec(or whatever you want)

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it!

I did set the Update Interval to 0 (zero). The Flexible Interval is setup to check every 30 seconds, so basically the setup is exactly like you wrote.

The flexible interval is set to 30 seconds.

To be more precise - did you change that setting BEFORE or AFTER my message?

If you did it BEFORE and you had unwanted mail - it's weird. Looks like configuration doesn't work as it was described in documentation.
        Sincerely yours,
        Aleksey

As you can see in my original message, I did before your message.
Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough, English is not my first language

          Reagrds,

I found the solution for my problem.
I changed the trigger function and leave the Item interval as it is.

            I changed the trigger function from "{template_check_vms:agent.ping.nodata(5m)}=1" to "{template_check_vms:agent.ping.nodata(5m)}=1 & {template_check_vms:agent.ping.time(0)}>084000 & {template_check_vms:agent.ping.time(0)}<091000 & {template_check_vms:agent.ping.dayofweek(0)}>0 & {template_check_vms:agent.ping.dayofweek(0)}<6"

This way the trigger will only work on weekday (dayofweek >0 and <6) between 08:40:00 and 09:10:00

The solution was on the forum all the time, I just didn't look good enough.

            Thanks everybody.
