    Agent interface: 127.0.0.1, or monitored host's ip/name?

    Hello

I've been having some strange issues with monitoring MySQL replication, and eventually found that if I changed the "Agent Interface" in the host config, it all started working fine.

I have a few hosts that have 127.0.0.1:10050 as the agent interface, and this works just fine (windows and linux boxes), but I'm wondering if its better to put in their DNS names and use this. For VMWare auto-discovered hosts, all of the agent interfaces are set to 127.0.0.1:10050. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I cant seem to find any docs that suggest either - can anyone comment?

Will the host be looked up by dns if the hostname is a fqdn?

    Thanks!
