    Conditional Recovery alerts

    Hi,

We have some triggers setup for disk space alert where depending on the amount of free space available we trigger with different priorities. Eg. If the % free space is < 10% but greater than 5% then its a Medium alert, if its < 5% its a high.

My question is how do I stop getting a recovery message (through actions) when the transition is made from >5% <10% to <5%?

    Hope the above makes sense.

    Many thanks,

    Mark.

    (A) Convince the guys who write zabbix to provide a trigger severity expression.

    (B) is there a reason not to leave the lower severity trigger still in an alert state? Suppose you fall below the 5% but not below 10% don't you want there still to be a medium alert?

    (C) sorry, not sure how to do literally what you want at least easily, as you are essentially trying to suppress a recovery message. You might see if you can find some way in the trigger action to suppress the message from the recovery (i.e. the problem event is recovered, but the message does not go out), but off hand I did not see one. Presumably if you are using a script for the alert it could use the API and check to see the actual values and decide whether it's being recovered-too-high or recovered-too-low. But honestly I think the answer is (B). Or maybe (D) which might be "if your staff didn't react when notified at 90% and it went to 100% full, get new staff".
