Zabbix upgrade to 2.2.2 with separate APP and DB server

    Hi All,

Hoping for a little help if possible.

We have a Zabbix 2.2.1 installation where we run the App on one server and the DB on a separate server. Both are Centos 6, one running MySQL.

We downloaded the source code for Zabbix 2.2.2 and compiled, on both servers, and this successfully compiles and installs. We have then copied the new front end over the existing one.

Once this is done when visiting the homepage we get a blank white page and not the installation or zabbix homepage. We have confirmed that Apache is running, and are able to see the redirect functioning that we have specified in the Apache config file.

If anyone is able to offer any help on why the upgrade may have broken the front end, or where we might have gone wrong, it would be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Assuming you made a backup copy of your old frontend - go look for your old zabbix.conf.php file and put it back in place in your new frontend directory structure.

For me, that is here: /var/www/html/zabbix/conf/zabbix.conf.php

(Edit) And I never overwrite my old frontends when I am upgrading, I simply move it to a backup location in case I need to back out of the upgrade.

We are in a similar position where we have two servers, one the app and the other a db server.

When everything was on one server we ran the upgrade path by downloading the update then running .\configure with the switches. How would we perform the upgrade now with two separate servers?

      Thanks

        Hi tchjts1,

Apologies for the delay in replying.

We attempted the upgrade again, replacing the zabbix.conf.php with a pre upgrade copy, and unfortunately got the same results.

In order to be certain both PHP and Apache were working, we tested both using a sample HTML file and creating a PHP Info page. Both returned results without any issue. Luckily both servers are VM's and so restoration was fairly simple.

Do you have any further advice please ?

        Thanks

        Tim

try this (i assume your documentroot is /var/www/html):

          cd /var/www/html
          mv zabbix zabbix.old

          cp -R NEW_ZABBIX_INSTALL_DIR/frontends/php/ zabbix

          cp zabbix.old/conf/zabbix.conf.php zabbix/conf

          Working...
