How to monitor Active Directory Functionality

Hello everyone!

Does anyone have any Idea how to How to monitor Active Directory Functionality.

I noticed sometimes that the AD server still online but the AD Functions are not OK.

how to deal with such Problem? Log files Trap or is there any Idea.

AD it is set of services in the single package. It consist of LDAP, Kerberos (with some extensions), DNS and few other services. Generally on monitoring from the outside of the AD server those components can monitored using methodology used on monitoring those services. Monitoring state of the services from inside the AD server is different story.
Nevertheless all depends which one parts of the whole package you are using.
