    Agent Unreachable on AWS Private Servers (Different Regions)

    Hi,
    I have searched a lot about this but i couldn't find a solution on this. Kindly help me on this. Below is the scenario:

    I have installed Zabbix Server on AWS Server (Singapore Location). Now i need to monitor the AWS private server which is in Virginia location.


    Zabbix Server(Singapore) (Public IP)


    AWS Server (Virginia) (Public IP) ---> Private Server(10.x.x.x)



    Hope you understand what my problem is. Need urgent solution on this. Also have attached the image.(I know it looks horrible)

    Check using telnet command can you reach the port of the agent.
    If it is not possible to open agent port it is network setup issue and it has nothing to do with zabbix.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply. I can't telnet the agent port because agent is installed on private server but i can telnet to the zabbix server port i.e. 10051 from private server. Will active check work here? If yes, then how?

      If you can connect to the Zabbix server from the monitored server, you can monitor it if it is an active check.
      Since default templates use passive checks a lot, it would be better to create templates for active checks.

      As a setting on the Zabbix agent side, please set the IP address of the Zabbix server to ServerActive.
      After that, please register the host with the host name specified as Hostname in the Zabbix server.

      If some active check items are set for that host, the agent will get a list of items to be monitored when the Zabbix agent connects to the Zabbix server.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply. Just few more queries.

    1) Is it necessary the hostname of zabbix server must be able to ping from agent side, as we mentioning the hostname of the server in agent side
    2) What should be the entries in host configuration ---> agent interfaces (IP and DNS) in Zabbix UI Panel? Is entry should be of Sever's IP/DNS or Agent's IP/DNS?

      If Zabbix agent can resolve the name and connect to the port(default 10051) to the Zabbix server, it should be able to monitor.

      2)
      The Zabbix server will not use interfaces info in the host's configuration unless you only use active check items.
      For example, the IP address may be 127.0.0.1.
      However, please be aware that passive check items are done for the agent interface settings.
      If you specify 127.0.0.1 as the IP address and have a passive check item, you will get the value from the Zabbix agent on the server running the Zabbix server.

    Hi Atsushi,
    I'm able to monitor the server now. Thanks a lot to you. But is it applicable for only one server? If no, please guide me for multiple instances.

    Here's the issue i'm facing right now.

    --> I can't add hostname of the zabbix server in Zabbix UI Panel.

    Error: Host with the same name "hostname" already exists.

    --> If i add the same configuration of zabbix agent in another agent server, few of the data gets overlapped with previous agent server in UI panel.

      Multiple hosts with the same host name can not be registered.
      Please register using a different host name for each host to be monitored.
