    Start, stop, & status applications

We are considering Zabbix and I'd like feedback on suitability to start, stop and status applications. Here's the functionality I'm looking for:
    1. It appears triggers can be used to handle dependancies for starting applications
    2. I'm hoping the agents can handle actually starting an application for a specific user ID
    3. The display should include a color status (green - started, red - stoped, yellow - crashed) for a logical collection of servers (hopefully IT Services), a single server, and each application. For each application, details about the status (PID, start time, etc.) would be displayed along with the option to start or stop it (if they are in a specified LDAP/Active Directory group).

I haven't seen any Zabbix screen shots that would work for the display and figure it would need to be heavily customized. Is this possible, and well documented, for Zabbix?

    I welcome any input

Zabbix is meant to be a monitoring solution and not a job scheduler. So I am quite sure that your requirements do not work out-of-the-box.

We use zabbix for restarting applications through response based triggers, so that part is done fairly easily.

You could likely get close to what you want through a combination of Maps/Screens/Scripts, but what you are describing on the display front isn't turnkey out of box for sure.
