    Web Scenarios and host config

Ok, I am missing something here. I am running Zabbix 2.2
I want to monitor a web site that is not on my server. It is a hosted site.
In order to configure a web scenario I must have a host. To create a host I must define a monitoring method (Agent, SNMP, JMX or IPMI).
I do not have access for any of the above monitoring methods and the Create a Host page will not let me save the host without defining one of them. How do I create a host for monitoring with a simple ping so I can then attach a Web Scenario?

You can use a dummy address like 127.0.0.2. Zabbix will not use that address in web scenarions as you have to define your web "targets" separately.

OK, I follow that, however, this still bears the question of simple checks like pings. I have a router at my location that belongs to the vendor. The only way I can check and see if the router is up is to ping it, or ping something beyond it like google. I can not use SNMP on this device. How do I set up a host to do this when Zabbix will not let me define a host without specifying Agent, SNMP, JMX or IPMI. Do I just lie to it and tell it that it has a method it does not really have?

In my case - When I want to ping some devices, I configure the Agent Interface with correct address and use Template ICMP Ping which create three Items with Simple Check type.

I know that in the Host list I will never see green Z next to name of my "device", but I collect the correct information about ping/ping loss/ping response time.
        Sincerely yours,
        Aleksey

          Bumping this

I'm having the same issues as OP. I want to run scenarios against hosts where I'm not able to use any of the currently allowed monitoring methods.

This seems like a design flaw to me. Either we must be allowed to add hosts that doesn't necessarily use any of the current monitoring methods (and even allows for none), or we must be able to create scenarios that aren't bound to any particular host.
