I am having a crisis here
pleas tell me I am making a mistake and need to learn!
I am a user of Zabbix. 25 Years in Support, and currently my admin has given me Zabbix. This is the first time I use Zabbix, so lets get it going!
My Admin is great! I love him, but I am hoping he is missing some info about Zabbix architecture, and I am able to help him out.
Support uses Zabbix to troubleshoot connection problems at my company. We have some end devices with some hardware between the whole setup en need to figure out the complete path of connection within minutes.
So what I effectively need is a search field in which I can enter an IP adress, and the result should be a map of the complete segment. This way I can localize problems, and see the starting and endpoint. After this I need Graphics and history and all kinds of SMNP traps, but in the first place I need to see a bigger picture of the segment, and find out what I am dealing with.
Our Zabbix seems not to offer me this function. Sure we have maps and I can search for IP, but there is no way to search for an IP an click towards the partnered map.
This cant be true. Zabbix has the maps, and has the IP's.... so why shouldn't I be able to search for an IP, an see the link to the map it's on. My mind is going crazy here.
Currently, I somehow need to open all the maps it offers, and then ctrl+f for info.
So I am here to learn or to change the design of our Zabbix.. that's yet to find out. But the person who can help me will be thought of for years, and offered a virtual invisible lightsaber.
