I am just starting out with Zabbix. We have several clients we wish to monitor iLO hardware of. I have a basic Zabbix appliance set up and have it using the iLO discovery tool into a DL360 - this is working fine and I am getting metrics etc. However, the next stage is to now have the data from iLO units from servers over the Internet accessed. I am guessing that SNMP traps can be sent to Zabbix (although not sure how to configure for Zabbix end) or I could use the same template for probing the iLO however this will mean opening ports (inbound) at various firewalls. So 2 questions - 1) What method is recommended in this instance and 2) best practice for that method.
