upgrade issue from 2.0.10 to 2.2.3

Hi, trying to upgrade from 2.0.10/mysql5.1 to 2.2.3/mysql5.5. I built a new, separate server, installed the zabbix debian packages for wheezy, copied over the old database from my 2.0 server, fired up the mysql & zabbix-server 2.2.3 process and see this in the log:

15201:20140411:131029.053 Starting Zabbix Server. Zabbix 2.2.3 (revision 44105).

mandatory integer default '0' not null,
optional integer default '0' not null
    ) engine=innodb]

I understand what this is intending to do after reading http://blog.zabbix.com/zabbix-2-2-fe...pgrading/1956/ . I dont see the 'dbversion' table using 'show tables', and I can't drop it for the same reason. I am unable to continue through the zabbix upgrade via the frontend bc I get this: The frontend does not match Zabbix database. server_check_interval does exist in the config table. I'm also not sure where 'dbversion' would have come from bc I haven't tried an upgrade on the 2.0 box, and i'm a little confused that I cannot see the table with 'show tables'. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance
