What can stop you from using the intervals like 3600 second (=one hour) or 86400 second (=one day) ?
    Sincerely yours,
    Aleksey

      Hi aib,
Actually I want to change the regular refresh interval from per sec to per min or per hour. Or is there any other ways by which I can optimize my zabbix database.........

        wait-wait-wait.

Do you mean "refresh interval" for screen refreshing OR do you mean "update interval" for collecting data???

I answered you in my first message.

Don't hesitate to use 60 seconds instead of 1 min, and 3600 second instead 1 hour, and 86400 second instead of 1 day.
            Sincerely yours,
            Aleksey

Hi aib , I thankful to your suggestion. But my point was different. As you know agent polls data every second, but we can restrict those data from viewing every sec buy setting update interval in frontend. My point is I want to restrict the agent instead of polling data every sec to every min or every hour.......

                I'm sorry, I didn't know that!

Where did you get that suspicious information about aggressive habits of agent?

Hi aib , I need to know this because as more and more host I am adding on Zabbix my database is getting bigger and bigger. I need to know this because I want to reduce the size of my zabbix database. Or why not you can suggest me some other method to reduce my database usage......

                    Citation from Zabbix Documentation:
                    Code:
                    [B]Update interval (in sec) [/B]
Refresh this item every N seconds.
Note: If set to '0', the item will not be polled. However, if a flexible interval also exists with a non-zero value, the item will be polled during the flexible interval duration.
It means, that Zabbix Agent will be requested to provide data every (interval) seconds.
I never heard about "agent polls data every second"as you told me before.

Nobody can work with unpredictable product which have a hidden settings.

You can configure update interval (for all Items) 3600 seconds and your servers will be requested only once per hour.

To reduce the size of Database you have to reduce "History storage period (in days)" and "Trend storage period (in days)"
It will give you more profit than hunting for configuring "Update interval"

The most detailed information about Database Size can be found here
                    Sincerely yours,
                    Aleksey
