Populate Host Macros via Agent Userparameters?

Hi,

is it possible to create and populate Host Macros via Zabbix Agent?

I'm monitoring CPU temperatures by SNMP/IPMI of a set of hosts. Different CPUs have different warning/crititcal temperatures. I helped myself in the past by checking the max/crit temperatures within the OS and using Zabbix API to set the macros per Host.
It would be nice and imo cleaner to just ask Zabbix Agent to do that. Maybe my brain is twisted but I can't think of a solution right away.

My ideal solution would be to have a discovery item takes care of that. Has anyone done this so far?

The only way to achieve such result is doing what you did before - API
None of built-in mechanisms or items on agents are capable of changing the configuration of the server.
